In depth

Verdict

The veteran CONFESSIONAL will be having his 121st start but has rarely dropped into a grade this low and is now on his lowest mark in eight years. He hasn't shown up badly in his two recent runs and if he's ever going to win again it could be here. Acclaim The Nation won at Thirsk but couldn't quite hold on from a 5lb higher mark back there a few days later and has gone up again. The ex-Irish Leo Minor is very consistent but keeps going up in the weights without winning while though Richard Fahey puts up Connor Murtagh to alleviate Penwortham's big weight his mount has raced over 7f in his last 19 starts. Harome is normally very consistent at this sort of level so it was a surprise when he weakened quickly at Thirsk last time.
