Verdict
This rates the stronger division on paper and it could be the time to stay with AFANDEM, who put a sequence of disappointing efforts well and truly behind him when scooting home on heavy ground at Carlisle recently. He's up 7lb for that victory but remains very well treated off a mark of 70 if he really has discovered something approaching his previous best as he was rated in the 100s in 2016-17. The handicapper is making life hard for Great Midge but he continues to perform with credit and could well have more to offer for such a lightly-raced 4-y-o. The ground is a possible concern though if more rain falls. John Kirkup is also down to a more feasible mark and is respected along with the reliable and consistent Tricky Dicky.
