Verdict
Macorville is the pick over Conkering, Paparaazi and Dark Charm. Macorville absolutely bolted up on heavy ground at Ripon in May, and was having his first start for three months when resuming winning ways at the Yorkshire track nine days ago. With conditions very much in his favour today, George Moore's three-year-old should take all the beating despite having to shoulder a 6lb penalty. Conkering was also successful in testing conditions at Ripon in April, and there was obviously something amiss when he was pulled up on his return from a break at Windsor in July. He looks set to give the selection most to do, with Paparaazi having shown his best form on faster ground. Dark Charm has won here on heavy going before, and has been in good form in the main, so is another to consider to small stakes, but Macorville is very much the one to be on.
