In depth
Verdict
A competitive finale in which it’s difficult to put a line through any of the eight declared runners, though Groupie returns from a lay-off. Club Wexford and Deansgate are probably more exposed than most while Lamloom has gone up 5lb since seconds last month at Pontefract and Nottingham. SALUTI has won three times over 7f and been placed three times over 6f. He showed a pleasing attitude when holding on in a blanket finish last time at Newmarket and may be capable of defying a 4lb rise. Quick going suits Balestra and the Catterick scorer is a danger while Magical Effect is slipping down the weights. Critical Thinking didn’t stay 1m2f last time at Chester but is better on the all-weather.
