      Verdict

      An impossible-looking handicap to start proceedings. It’s difficult to know what to make of Ben Vrackie as he was beaten in a three-runner Group 3 at Goodwood after bolting up in an all-weather maiden but Dramatic Queen has been contesting Listed races and Irish raider Persian Lion looks to be progressing. Soto Sizzler pounced late to win a well-contested handicap at Goodwood and should appreciate this step up in trip. The equally lightly-raced Natural History was impressive at Chepstow and course winner Sea Youmzain was successful on her first try over this trip at Catterick. MEKONG was always holding Rude Awakening and Elegiac at Chelmsford last month and kept on well once headed to finish fourth in the Melrose at York next time. Further rain would enhance his prospects of picking up the winning thread again here.
