Verdict

CITY TOUR is not the most consistent but has placed in testing going and has been gelded since winning at Musselburgh in April. He may prove good enough though Theatre Of War went close on heavy ground at Ayr last year and has slipped down the weights subsequently. Kuwait Station has also tumbled down the weights since last year though has no form on today’s surface and Metatron struggled badly in soft going at Chester last time.

Formwatch

Kuwait Station (IRE) 14-1 (9-9) Close up, headway when not clear run and hampered entering final furlong, switched right and stayed on towards finish, 3rd of 7, 3l behind Smile A Mile (9-7) at Haydock 1m hcp (4) gf in May.

Metatron (IRE) 12-1 (8-12) Pressed winner until ridden entering final 2f, weakened final furlong, 10th of 11, 15l behind Lincoln Park (9-1) at Chester 1m hcp (2) sft in May.

Theatre Of War (IRE) 20-1 (8-12) Soon led, ridden and headed approaching 2f out, weakened approaching final furlong, 8th of 9, 12l behind Brian Epstein (9-5) at Musselburgh 7f hcp (3) gs in Jun.

City Tour 5-2jfav (9-8) Slowly into stride, in rear, outpaced over 3 out, ridden 2f out, kept on under pressure final furlong, took modest 4th near finish, never threatened leaders, 4th of 10, 7 1/4l behind Wild Hope (9-4) at Carlisle 7f hcp (5) gf in May.
