    In depth

OTTONIAN will need to improve again on a debut victory at Thirsk but is capable of doing so and the soft going clearly won’t be a problem. There was also give in the ground when Perfect In Pink won at Leicester but Mick Channon's filly is 7lb higher now. The Blues Master and Taxmeifyoucan were both well beaten over 1m6f at Musselburgh last time but that was in better company. Duke's Girl seems to be coming to hand and she’s preferred to Redcar winner New Society and Lethal Impact of the others.

Ottonian 2-1jfav (8-11) Tracked leader, led 9f out, distracted by loose on bend over 8f out, pushed along over 3f out, joined from 2f out, driven and strongly pressed over 1f out, stayed on gamely to assert inside final furlong, won at Thirsk 1m 4f mdn stks (5) sft in May beating Kilowatt (8-11) by 1 1/2l, 8 ran.

Perfect In Pink 7-1 (8-10) In touch, pushed along and headway over 2f out, chased leading pair over 1f out, 4 lengths down entering final furlong, ridden and ran on to lead towards finish, won at Leicester 1m 4f mdn fll stks (4) gs in May beating Munstead Star (8-10) by 1 1/4l, 9 ran.

Lethal Impact (JPN) 8-1 (8-11) Mid-division, ridden over 2f out, never threatened, 8th of 12, 7 1/2l behind Cross Step (8-11) at Lingfield 1m 4f mdn stks (5) gd in May.

The Blues Master (IRE) 40-1 (8-8) Held up, pushed along over 6f out, never on terms, 8th of 9, 7 1/4l behind Time To Study (9-7) at Musselburgh 1m 6f hcp (2) gf in Jun.

New Society (IRE) 8-1 (9-4) Took keen hold, led 1f, settled 3rd 12f out, 2nd again on inside going well 2f out, ridden to lead again over 1f out, soon clear, easily, won at Redcar 1m 6f mdn hcp (6) gd in May beating Sheriff Garrett (8-10) by 3l, 12 ran.

Duke's Girl 3-1 (8-13) Steadied start, keen towards rear, headway after 3f, effort over 2f out, kept on well final furlong, never reached winner, 2nd of 8, 1l behind Dyna Might (8-1) at Thirsk 1m 4f hcp fll (5) gs in Jun.

Taxmeifyoucan (IRE) 18-1 (8-6) Always in rear, last of 9, 9 1/4l behind Time To Study (9-7) at Musselburgh 1m 6f hcp (2) gf in Jun.
