Verdict

It can pay here to side with CALL TO ARMS who is nominated over Redden and Elusive Sue. The selection is a son of Shamardal and he showed plenty of promise on his debut at Thirsk back in June when he chased home Ballodair. He subsequently flopped over this course and distance but he is surely better than that and we are prepared to give him another chance to restore his reputation. Redden is an interesting newcomer as he is a well bred Pivotal colt and the yard are in sparkling form at present. Elusive Sue is back in maiden company after being well beaten in a competitive handicap at York last month. She had previously been a beaten favourite in a maiden at Redcar and she shapes as though she could be suited by a slightly longer trip. Maragna showed plenty of speed on his debut at Thirsk and he may be capable of even better with that experience under his belt and on this quicker ground. Call To Arms does not come without risk after a below-par effort last time but he looks worth another chance.
