Verdict
The weights for this Novices' Chase leave Another Joker with a stiff test to face so the vote goes to the potential improver Son Of A Gun, who escapes any penalties and is preferred over Father Mulcahy and Bentyheath Lane today. Son Of A Gun is still lightly raced over fences and has sensibly not been rushed as he prepares for the new season proper ahead. He has not been overfaced here and, after sound efforts in defeat at Plumpton and Southwell within the last month, he is taken to prove too progressive for Another Joker, who will do well to hold the selection under his 7lb penalty.
