This is a very competitive opening handicap, and many can be given a chance, including Cruise Director, Jeepstar, Inchnadamph and Hiddensee, but our vote just goes to Dundry. Gary Moore's four-year-old won a competitive handicap on soft ground at York in May, and after a couple of below-par efforts he returned to form when going down narrowly to Double Deputy at Nottingham last time. He is only four pounds higher than when winning at York, and with ground conditions to suit he should go close. Inchnadamph had Jeepstar half a length away in third when winning over this course and distance in June, but on six pounds better terms we would fancy Jeepstar to reverse the form here, particularly after he went down by just a neck to Balkan Knight in the Old Borough Cup here last time. Willie Musson's Cruise Director struck form with an impressive win at York last time, and steps up in trip today. His style of running suggests that the extra two furlongs should not be a problem, and he should be a big danger. Hiddensee was very progressive earlier in the season, and Mark Johnston's three-year-old holds Indian Pipe Dream on his win at Doncaster in May. He went down by just by a neck to Garden Society at Newbury last time, and on six pounds better terms, and with his preferred easier ground today, he too merits respect. A hard race to fathom then, but the vote just goes to Dundry.
