Verdict

With only one of the 13 declared runners having seen the racecourse, this is a bit of a guessing game, and the pin comes down on Monaazalah ahead of Elusive Deal, Feisty Royale and Festivale. The one with the form is Elusive Deal who shaped well when third of five to Dark Angel on her Chester debut. She had the best of the draw on the Roodye but could not cope with the odds-on winner who is trained by Barry Hills. With that in mind, Hills will have a line to work on as he unleashes Monaazalah, a daughter of Green Desert whose breeding very much suggests that she will improve when sent over a mile. She holds no fancy entries but had a choice of engagements over the next few days and is obviously ready to run. Feisty Royale hails from a stable that can get them ready early, and is related to plenty of winners, while Festivale cost 170,000gns and is entered for a valuable sales race at Ascot in September. The market may throw up a springer, but in a race in which bets are best kept small, it is Monaazalah that is lumbered with the vote.
