Verdict
Brian Meehan won this race last year and he could land the prize again with WINNING BAND who is preferred to the Sunniva Duke, Apache Ridge and Barbarian. The selection shaped with promise on his debut at Yarmouth when he finished in mid-division in a race won by Magaling. The form is difficult to evaluate as nothing from that race has been out since, but he shaped as though he would come on for the run and if he can find a bit of improvement then he might just be up to the task of landing this. Apache Ridge is a well-bred newcomer and he has to be respected on his debut, while Barbarian also catches the eye on breeding and the stable have a fair strike-rate with their 2-year-olds this season. Sunniva Duke did the best of the newcomers on his debut at Goodwood and the stable have had plenty of juvenile winners this season. A tough race for punters to fathom and the vote is given to Winning Band.
