Verdict

Roger Varian’s stable has hit the ground running and his Dubawi colt Apparate, though unruly on the way to the start, was just beaten on his debut at Newbury in October. The step up in trip is certain to suit as he’s a full brother to the yard’s Appeared but MAKE MY DAY is a very interesting rival. A beautifully-bred son of Galileo, he cost 350,000gns at the sales last year and could be anything. Wolverhampton winner Great Bear may be trying to give weight to a couple of decent maidens while Nordano was last at Pontefract. Severance stayed on late at Newbury on debut, however, and will know more today.
