Verdict
The short list here consists of Goodbye Mr Bond, Major Magpie and Dark Charm, with the selection being Major Magpie. The course and distance winner Goodbye Mr Bond is back to a pound below a winning mark of last season so has to be considered. Bold Marc has his new mark to defy. Sew 'N' So Character is two pounds below a winning mark from last season, while Major Magpie gets a big shout having been noted running on over seven furlongs at Catterick last time on his seasonal return. If Brian Meehan has got Crocodile Bay back to his best then he would be a player, while Nevada Desert, who is also a course and distance winner, was running well on the all-weather when last seen last season and is not ruled out. Burley Flame is another that would need to turn back the clock to 2005 if he is to feature, a similar type of profile applying to Nawaqees. Dark Charm has a reasonable profile going into this and comes here fit. As we say, it's a tricky contest, with the selection being Major Magpie.
