In depth

Verdict

LEADING ARTICLE comes into this race in fine form and is taken to land it at the expense of Different Class and Sparticus Bay. The selection has been knocking on the door of late finishing second at Stratford on both his last two runs. The handicapper has left him alone and although the ground conditions will be a lot quicker, his only career win was on a fast surface back in his native Ireland. Different Class has not won for two years but has only been lightly-raced during that period. He finished second to Jazz Dance at Southwell on his latest start but it was only in a four runner race and is a horse not to trust totally. Sparticus Bay was good enough to win an Aintree bumper on his debut, but has been difficult to win with since. That said he is only lightly raced so he could be a difficult horse to train. He has his first run over the larger obstacles today and he has to be of interest so any market moves should be noted. But for the winner we return to Leading Article.
