In depth

Verdict

This is a very modest contest and after must consideration Southerndown is taken to oblige, New Perk and Robber could be the two to fight out the places. This twelve-year-old is not the force of old, but accordingly has slipped down to a very handy mark. He did well to finish second to Follow The Trend over course and distance last time and the form was boosted with the third winning at Folkestone on Monday. With just 10st 8lb in the plate today he must be in with great chance of going one better. New Perk pulled up last time following some poor jumping but had previously finished a promising second to Atticus Finch, a repeat of that effort would see him involved here. Peter Bowen's Robber showed bits and pieces of form last season and doesn't look overburdened for his first outing of this campaign. So a race that will not take too much winning and Southern down looks the pick of the bunch
