In depth

Verdict

Terramarique is given the nomination ahead of Deo Gratias and Sundawn Lady. Nicky Henderson's charge has shown plenty of ability over chase fences but he is no back number over hurdles and could be worth a chance around this esoteric circuit. Deo Gratias appreciates a test of stamina and has to be a player if the favourite does not deliver. The handicapper has been harsh in raising him for two second places but stamina is at least assured. Sundawn Lady was responsible for one of those defeats but there is a chance that this form could be reversed on a track that suits front-runners. Etendard Indien is interestingly upped in trip following an unsuccessful spell over shorter. The market is watched for any signs of confidence. Fort Ord has been disappointing since switching to this side of the Irish Sea and is another to be tried over an extreme trip for the first time. Wayward Melody is exposed as modest. Caper stays this trip but very much in his own time. Reg Hollinshead's charge has made a habit of making the frame at big prices so could be of some interest to each-way backers. Terramarique is in good heart at the moment and he is duly selected.
