A poor opener can be taken by GLIMMER OF LIGHT, who looks capable of defying a penalty to see off Phoenix Eye and Jack's Lad. The selection was a soft ground scorer at Market Rasen over slightly further last time, but he is equally at home over the minimum and he has shown improved form since wearing a tonguestrap. He has winning form on good ground, so he won't be inconvenienced by today's conditions and he gets the vote. Phoenix Eye acts well on a sound surface and went well over course and distance last time, when a five length second to Cusp. The drop back to this trip is not certain to suit though and we will take him on. Jack's Lad showed his best form for some time at Taunton last time and he might be capable of building on that but he is not one to put total trust in and he would prefer softer ground. Fortune Point and Wishes Or Watches both look capable of picking up some prize money if at their best, but we'll take Glimmer Of Light to score.
