In depth

Verdict

IMMENSE is the selection in this staying handicap with Festival Dreams and Alternator others worthy of interest. Trevor Whelan has caught the eye this season on some of Ian Williams' lightweights and it is to be hoped that this is another demonstration of his abilities. The horse acts on the surface and is proven over further. Festival Dreams is put in headgear. His ability to handle the going is not in question though a 5lb rise for a recent placing makes him a less attractive betting proposition than he could be. Alternator looked a progressive sort a couple of seasons ago although injuries have limited his return to the racecourse, as an inmate of a less fashionable yard, he could be under the radar. Pat Murphy has had a couple of winners this season so do not dismiss Power Shared. Mylo is a complete law unto himself and it will be very much up to himself as to whether he wishes to take a hand in this race. Earcomesthedream is under a penalty since gleaning a 7lb rise for victory at Southwell. Connections have rather been forced to go to the well though the ground is markedly different. Oliver Sherwood has had a quiet season though the market has to be watched to see if Little Al is worthy of following. Inchloch has not been able to produce the sort of form he regularly demonstrated on the flat. Mistress To No One is very well named as she can be particularly errant whether it be in the preliminaries or in the race itself. She has ability if she can be persuaded into using it. Immense is the percentage pick.
