In depth
Verdict
Archie Babe is capable but inconsistent and, even on his favoured ground, looks worth taking on with the vote going to the less exposed Echo Point with Torkinking looking the pick of the remainder. The selection has won three of his seven career starts, all on a soft surface, and the Nicky Richards-trained gelding is open to further improvement so gets the vote. Andre Chenier is capable but lacks the class of the selection, while Aviation has age on his side but may find this opposition beyond him. Lankawi similarly is only a five-year-old and looks to be going the right way but Peter Bowen's gelding would need to step up on previous form to win this. Torkinking was easily the pick of these over hurdles but lack of chasing experience has to be of concern and a safer bet looks to be the progressive and unexposed Echo Point.
