In depth

Verdict

A tough opener to get things underway but we will give Jericho III the chance to shine at the expense of Catch The Perk and Native Eire. It is certainly true that Jericho III has not lived up to the form he showed as a hurdler but with rain forecast, he may be able to reproduce his best efforts having already scored twice when there is significant cut underfoot. Catch The Perk produced a 40/1 shock last time up. There is always a chance if he reproduces that form but consistency has never been his strong point. Native Eire had taken two modest chases earlier in the season before running a shocker at Carlisle. Much better is required here. Gary Brown's team are running sweeter of late and he is responsible for Get The Point. He was a winner at Folkestone on soft ground last time out and the 7lb rise in the handicap is negated by the booking of a useful conditional. King Plato probably needs further than this and while his recent form is little to write home about; Graham Lee has stuck by him again. A tough race in which Jericho III is given one more chance.
