Verdict

RIVAL D'ESTRUVAL won at Cartmel and Aintree last year and sets a decent standard on his recent second to Dark Glacier over 2m6f at Newcastle. Having contested Grade 2 and Grade 3 contests this winter, Pauline Robson's gelding should be good enough to defy his penalty here. Miracle House has his first run for Tim Vaughan and hasn't raced since August but had some decent form in Ireland last year and blinkers could bring about some improvement in Realmont, who was once placed in a Grade 1 chase in France but has shown little since joining Donald McCain.
