In depth

Verdict

The in-form Richard Newland sent ON THE WILD SIDE on the long journey from Worcestershire to land a course and distance maiden in fine style earlier this month. A fitness advantage over his main rivals can see him defy a penalty, though conceding 11lb to Sophie Fatale won't be easy if the latter is fully wound up as she showed plenty of potential last season including on this track. Blazing Port landed a Sedgefield bumper and led for a long way on a return visit while Abington Park's dam has produced two winners and Philip Kirby's charge showed promise in bumpers.
