In depth
Verdict
If the ground stays on the quick side then it may pay to side with Kalmo Bay ahead of Genghis and Moment Of Madness. Ferdy Murphy's gelding needs good ground at least in order to show his best, but there is no doubt that if he does then he can land this race. His win at Musselburgh earlier in the season was full of cheek and cosiness, and he then found the ground against him at Newcastle next time. He has carried a big weight to victory in the past and he can do so again today. Master T is a course and distance winner, and whilst his recent run was lacklustre, if the market speaks in his favour then expect a big run. Stablemate Adecco also has claims on the pick of his runs but recently he has been average at best. Reasonably Sure is consistent and may appreciate a return to a quicker surface today, as he seemed to get bogged down at Sedgefield last time. Toni Alcala is unexposed over fences and he knows how to win, both on the flat and over hurdles. Cheeky Lad needs to brush up on his jumping, whilst Genghis is still relatively unexposed and he should appreciate this easier company. An open race, however it is Kalmo Bay who gets the nod.
