In depth

Verdict

Killing Me Softly has been hit by the handicapper for his win at Leicester and looks worth taking on with preference for Son Of Greek Myth, who gets the vote ahead of Smart Boy Prince. The selection has failed to progress since his juvenile days but has shown promise over hurdles and should be spot on for this following a recent outing on the all-weather. The son of Silver Hawk should have little difficulty with the ground and has been allotted a fair mark for his debut in handicap. Smart Boy Prince has shown signs of ability in all three starts over timber but remains a doubtful stayer and a bigger threat is likely to come from Killing Me Softly. However, the gelding has gone up 21lbs since his Leicester success and may now be in the grip of the handicapper. Purr has shown only limited ability so far, while West Hill needs to improve dramatically to trouble the judge. Son Of Greek Myth is no world-beater but this looks a realistic level for Gary Moore's gelding and he gets the vote.
