Verdict
Musical Chord was fancied on his debut but found one too good, and is taken to go one better here, with Dubai Ace, Lunar Exit and Festive Chimes seen as the main dangers. Colin Tinkler has done well since returning to the training ranks, and although he does not send out too many runners, they invariably run well when seeing the racetrack, and Musical Chord was expected to open his account at the first time of asking at Towcester on 9 May. However, he got outpaced on the home turn before running on in the straight, and it has to be said that he was done no favours by the winner wandering about in his path. Being a half-brother to the useful Irish stayer Minella Gold, he will relish the step up in trip here, and as long as he jumps adequately, can open his account. Dubai Ace will attract plenty of support, having finished fourth to Penzance in a Grade 2 at Kempton before running at the Cheltenham Festival. He may just have met a good sort when beaten by Settlement Craic at Fontwell, but he has not impressed in the main and is worth taking on. Lunar Exit was beaten by a 20-1 shot at Worcester and really wants softer ground, as would Festive Chimes who had the indignity of being raised four-pounds after falling at Fakenham the time before last. All in all, Musical Chord appears to be the one with the most scope, and he can pay to follow now.
