Verdict

Dagueneau, who has improved with each run, stepped up to 2m5f at Ludlow and was only beaten two lengths so looks certain to get into contention. Winning bumper Prince Llywelyn couldn't get to Penny Mallow at Wetherby and the winner has been beaten twice subsequently. TORN AND FRAYED has finished runner-up twice and generally performed in better company. He finished last of four behind Sporting John at Ascot last time but ran well for a long way and this looks his level. Castle Robin, a winner between the flags, has shown potential in bumpers and will be more at home over timber.
