Verdict
Mantles Prince is selected to get his head in front of some equally poor opponents including Homeleigh Mooncoin and Good Thyne Johnny. This is not the best of events to start the evening card, but Mantles Prince will be a popular choice after his second to ask the Umpire in similar company at Bangor last month. He was in the lead turning for home but ran out of steam in the straight, and this easier track should help his cause as he bids to gain his first British success. Homeleigh Mooncoin is well treated compared to when he was with Lucy Wadham but has struggled in the main. However, his second to King's Castle at Southwell in April gives him a squeak. Good Thyne Johnny, successful here last year off a mark of 95, has not been seen for 11 months and has topweight to overcome into the bargain. Basically, Mantles Prince is a shadow of the horse that landed the Ladbroke Hurdle at Leopardstown five years ago, but even a minute semblance of that form would be good enough here.
