Spectator, rated 82 on the Flat after three victories for Andrew Balding, started favourite on his hurdling debut at Stratford but jumped poorly and was well beaten. Derintoher Yank finished runner-up in a Cork bumper in July but jumped moderately on his hurdling debut here last month and didn't look the easiest of rides.
