Verdict

Spectator, rated 82 on the Flat after three victories for Andrew Balding, started favourite on his hurdling debut at Stratford but jumped poorly and was well beaten. Derintoher Yank finished runner-up in a Cork bumper in July but jumped moderately on his hurdling debut here last month and didn't look the easiest of rides. The filly ZAINAT scored at Wolverhampton in January and will have come on for her run at Pontefract last month. She may have more scope than most of these and can make a successful debut over timber.
