Verdict

Nayati beat subsequent winners Collingham and Thereisnodoubt at Musselburgh on New Year’s Day but the runner-up reversed the form with his stablemate on a return visit. The Grade 2 winner Mctigue and Colonel Mustard, third in last season’s County Hurdle, spearhead the Irish challenge but the latter is probably being aimed at The Festival again. Cormier is only 2lb higher than when landing this 12 months ago but he’s been chasing this winter and Benson prefers a bit further nowadays. TEDDY BLUE has just one victory to his name over timber but he’s been campaigned at a high level. His latest third in the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury was another sound effort and he can race off his correct mark in this with Caoilin Quinn taking off a further 5lb. L'Eau Du Sud is unexposed in handicaps and so is Deere Mark but the assessor may have reeled in El Muchacho.
