Verdict

WINTER ALCHEMY (NAP) won this in 2014 off a 2lb higher mark and looked like scoring again last year only to be collared on the run-in. This has obviously been his aim again as he's a had a rest since finishing fourth over hurdles at Huntingdon on Boxing Day and Ryan Day's claim is a massive plus. Dr Beaujolais has been raised 7lb for a narrow win at Market Rasen but is comparatively lightly raced. Notonebuttwo didn't do himself justice last time at Sedgefield and also comes into the reckoning but Bescot Springs has become disappointing and Tutchec had been pulled up five times in a row before finishing a tailed-off third last time.
