Verdict
Mr Woodentop, denied an opportunity at the weekend, is taken to gain some compensation, with Tarbolton Moss, Curly Spencer, Man Murphy and Impertio all expected to make their presence felt. Len Lungo's gelding was lined up for a tilt at Uttoxeter's National trial until the weather put paid to his chance, and he will line up fit and ready after having a break since being pulled up in the Welsh National at Chepstow. By Roselier, he stays all day and likes soft ground, so although today's trip is not as long as he would like, conditions will bring his stamina into play, and his class should help carry him through. Tarbolton Moss goes well here, and after her recent course success over three furlongs longer, was earmarked for the Borders National in March. She should be kept in mind for that four-mile affair whatever she does today. Man Murphy has left Mary Reveley since last year, and had a pipe opener over hurdles for his new yard at Wetherby recently. He looks a shade high in the weights at present but, given some respite, will pay to follow. Curly Spencer will love the ground, and gave the impression at Wetherby last time that he was crying out for a trip. Fairly weighted, he can prove a danger, while Impertio will be plugging on best of the rest no doubt. Mr Woodentop should pick up a few nice races this season, and is taken to defy topweight.
