Verdict
Chivalry, Paddy The Piper, Steppes of Gold and Collier Hill form the shortlist for this novices' hurdle and Chivalry is given the confident vote. The gelding from the all-conquering Howard Johnson yard was a fair sort on the flat and has taken to hurdles like a duck to water. He won well last time when defeating Radar on this track and should take this before going on to better things. Paddy The Piper has won his last two races in facile fashion but although he is rising in the weights he has plenty of scope for improvement and should go well. Steppes of Gold from the Nicky Richards yard is another in good form but he ran a little green last time and may find a couple too good, although he is a smart prospect who is sure to win his fair share of races in the future. Collier Hill made a good impression on his hurdling bow but has disappointed since, while Kentucky Blue was well beaten at Haydock last time behind King Revo and will have to improve to trouble the principles here. This is a good race with some nice sorts in opposition, but Chivalry looks a natural over hurdles and is given a confident recommendation.
