      Verdict

HOLLINS is our speculative selection for this affair with Heart O' The West and Red Onion the most pertinent of dangers. Micky Hammond's horse was something of an underachiever on the flat but he does look to have the constitution to make something of himself over hurdles and in what could be a muddling affair, his flat speed might be enough to get him through. Heart O' The West exhibited some promise in bumpers for Lenny Lungo. He reappears after a two year hiatus for Rose Dobbin so the market should be observed closely this afternoon. Red Onion has taken on much better novices in the past than those he will face today. He has shown a tendency to compromise his chances through making the odd error at the flights. Montoya's Son was beaten at short odds in a Hexham bumper and has it to prove after that effort. Magnushomesdotcom looked a future winner following his second in a Newcastle bumper. Unfortunately the value of that race took a real knock at Wetherby when the winner was beaten out of sight. St Killian's Run has left Paul Nicholls and as with many of David Johnson's more modest performers, has headed to Peter Monteith in the hope that the change of scenery can work the oracle. Beauchamp was a bitter disappointment at Newcastle last month and is surely much better than the line of form suggests. A race of imponderables and while Hollins is no certainty, he should be capable of making an impact.
