Verdict

This is a low quality affair which will not take much winning, and the highly exposed MATTEROFACT looks capable of picking up a rare win, with Spic'n'Span and Figaro Flyer the dangers. Figaro Flyer scored last time at Wolverhampton, but that success seemed to come as a result of a sliding handicap mark as his previous efforts were mediocre. Spic'n'Span looks more of a threat. His latest displays on the all-weather surface at Southwell have been sound but he has been off the course for over two months and may just need the run on this totally different surface. The seven-year-old Matterofact has had a couple of recent runs and comes here race fit. His latest effort on the Turf at Lingfield was very decent, coming third, with the runner-up franking the form since. He is rated 6lb lower on this surface, and although his only previous run here was disappointing, he has shaped well on the Lingfield Polytrack, and Matterofact can prove he is no back number.
