      Verdict

      A Nod And A Wink gets the call over Inquisitress and Grange Lili, with any support for Stars Above to be noted. A Nod And A Wink has been very unfortunate not to have opened her account in two outings here so far. She has found trouble-in-running both times, and was only beaten a whisker on the latest occasion eight days ago. Granted a clear run, Richard Hannon's filly would surely have prevailed, and with experience of this track to call on, she is taken to make amends. With a top jockey booked, Inquisitress will be a popular choice here as well. This half-sister to Caribbean Coral looked on the upgrade when storming away with a Lingfield seller for James Eustace last month, but was then asked to try and cope with a drop back to seven furlongs on her first outing for John Bridger here just three days ago. In the circumstances, she did well to finish third, and now has conditions much more in her favour. Grange Lili has her fair share of weight for what she has achieved, while Stars Above has shown little yet, but that means nothing given her connections, and she will no doubt improve out of all recognition next term. For now though, A Nod And A Wink must take all the beating.
