In depth

Verdict

Barnaby Rudge can get punters off to a good start in this maiden; the list of dangers is headed by Coole Dodger, Torch Of Freedom and Emperors Jade. This 2-year-old colt from the Jane Chapple-Hyam yard shaped with plenty of promise on his debut when he chased home Corrybrough. He is sure to come on plenty for the experience and in this weak contest he sets the benchmark. Emperors Jade finished well down the field behind the selection last time so it is hard to make a case for him reversing the form this evening. Coole Dodger is another who showed a bit of promise on his debut, although he will need to show plenty of improvement to lead them home today. A bigger danger to the selection could therefore be Torch Of Freedom. He was an eyecatcher on his debut at Yarmouth when he finished fourth behind Manassas. If he can improve for that outing he will not be far away at the finish. However, we prefer the claims of Barnaby Rudge who gets our pick.
