In depth
Verdict
Existential has been raised 6lbs for finishing second to Two Tears at Taunton but he ought to go well. Russell Road has had his problems and looks opposable. King Of Sparta is a decent chaser on his day and has won over hurdles but, on balance, is worth taking on. The lightly raced Dark Room has been raised 10lbs since his Market Rasen victory but is entitled to be progressing. Here Comes Henry has place claims from his current mark and is blinkered for the first time today. Follow The Trend has been raised 15lbs for his Leicester win which will make things tougher for him. Andy's Birthday is 8lbs higher than for his Uttoxeter win, which puts him at the top end, ratings wise, of what he has achieved. He is, however, the only course and distance winner in the contest, having won this race last year, but from a 12lb lower mark. Irish Option is a pound lower than for his Plumpton win of two years ago and has had problems since. He has, however, run well upon his return this season and holds a chance. Coastguard is 8lbs higher than for his Newbury win a year ago but has size and scope and it would no no surprise to see him run well. Sullane Storm is a lightly raced Irish import but he was pulled up on his first run for Martin Pipe on his first run for a year. He had previously shown promise as a novice in Ireland. Just Whiskey is also lightly raced and won a Plumpton novices' handicap from a mark of 88 last season. He is now on a mark of 94 and, while he should strip fitter for his latest run after a long absence, others are preferred. Luke Warm, now 13, is well weighted on the best of his form, but his last win came in December 2001. He was well behind Existential at Taunton but is 8lbs better off at the weights. Tomcappagh is well out of the handicap. It is not easy to name the winner but the blinkers might work for Here Comes Henry, who gets the nod.
