Verdict

The shortlist contains Wild Pitch, Birthday Star and African Sahara, with the vote going to Wild Pitch. Wild Pitch is a course winner that is not far above a winning Turf mark. He can make his presence felt tonight. Birthday Star came good at Wolves two runs ago and could be competitive again from a four-pounds higher mark. His best autumn form brings African Sahara into it. Native American is out of sorts. Figaro's Quest gets a good shout courtesy of his best form and the fact that he has a very good rider booked, while General Flumpa is marginally above a winning Turf mark. Yenaled is more out than in these days but runs for the first time for Milton Bradley, who might sweeten him up. Irish raider Mythological should be checked over in the betting, as should Equilibria, who hails from a canny yard. Sharaab has only ever won over hurdles, Sorbiesharry is on a long losing run, Trysting Grove is lightly raced but the form does not stack up too well, Barnbrook Empire is hard to fancy, but you could give Baileys Honour a squeak. Overall, though, the vote stays with Wild Pitch.
