Verdict

PRINCE CHARLEMAGNE can strike again while running well and just gets the selection ahead of Shenandoah Girl and Amwell Brave. The selection won with a bit to spare over distance at Lingfield last time and it was done in a manner to suggest the subsequent four pound rise in his mark won't stop him. The form is yet to play out form that but this is definitely a winnable assignment. Shenandoah Girl took a similar race to this at Lingfield before pulling up in a novice hurdle last time. Her mark is still more than competitive, having won off a rating slightly higher, but her form is too inconsistent to really trust fully. Amwell Brave seems to always run his race and another with a more than fair looking rating. Usually in the mix in this sort of standard he needs to be considered again. Carlton Scroop is running well and has a decent record at this track winning two from four starts. On current form you can add him to calculations along with Itsawindup who was a winner last time but has a six pound penalty to carry which might just be too much. So in a tricky race to call we go with Prince Charlemagne.
