In depth

Verdict

LIBERTY VALANCE is taken to land the last, while Hollow Jo may again go well. The Sylvester Kirk-trained selection has a good pitch towards the inside, and he ran with plenty of credit here last time when battling on well and just being nabbed close to home. Trip and surface clearly suit him and he can go one better today. Hollow Jo looked a particularly awkward ride when being kidded into winning here by Fergus Sweeney last week. Despite the fact that John Jenkins has his runners in good nick, the extra furlong here perhaps won't suit so well and we'll take on the gelding. This is the optimum trip for Batchworth Blaise, who encountered traffic problems here last week. This looks a reasonable mark for him and with better luck in running he should be thereabouts. Guildenstern represents a yard going well enough and he has been on the premises in each of his three runs since landing a Wolverhampton handicap off a 1lb lower mark in November. He merits plenty of respect. Over To You Bert acts well here but probably needs a drop in the weights before winning and we will side with Liberty Valance.
