Verdict
Lady Hopeful gets a tentative vote over the likes of Burhaan, Christian Bendix and Midmaar in an open-looking event. There is not too much recent winning form to go on here, with only Midmaar having scored over the past few weeks, but that course-and-distance success came after a lengthy break, and he is not certain to show any improvement as he goes well fresh. He did have Spinetail Rufous behind in fourth though, and should at least maintain that form. However, we will take him on with Lady Hopeful who has been unfortunate on each of her last two starts, especially at Lingfield nine days ago when her blindfold was removed late when the stalls opened. Given what happened, it was a sterling effort to get as close as she did in third, and with an extra furlong to help today, Peter Grayson's filly is fancied to make amends. Burhaan has shown signs of a return to form on each of his last three visits here, and as he looks well treated these days, cannot be left out of calculations entirely, while Christian Bendix is much more adept on the Southwell Fibresand. If there is any justice, then Lady Hopeful should go close.
