Verdict

Clodoline is a speculative suggestion in an interesting maiden where Floodlit, D'Nurse and Congenial are other newcomers worth bearing in mind; while Tiger Goddess and Prophetise have the benefit of experience and should also be monitored closely in the betting ring. The last named posted a respectable effort at Salisbury and is entitled to have come on for the run. However, John Hills is yet to win with a two-year-old this season and, as the form of her debut run looks ordinary; she may find a few of these a touch more precocious. Tiger Goddess ran green on her introduction but can be expected to be a lot sharper tonight. Solid market vibes would be dangerous to ignore. Congenial represents a yard that does well with this type of animal. She is likely to benefit greatly from the experience, though, and may be best watched. D¿Nurse is from a family that Richard Hannon knows well. As a half-brother to Mana Mou Bay, she is likely to get better with age. However, Hannon did manage to coax a Listed race out of her sibling as a juvenile; so she is no forlorn hope. Floodlit has an advantageous draw and, like the selection, can have no excuses on that score. Still, John Gosden¿s charge is a long term prospect and is likely to need a touch further in time. Therefore, it can pay to take a chance with Clodoline, who makes plenty of appeal on pedigree. The Paul Cole-trained filly is related to a hatful of useful seven furlong performers and, as the yard¿s youngsters have been thriving this season, Clodoline looks worth a punt in the opener.
