Verdict

Only a small field goes to post for this handicap and we will nominate CLEAR REEF to get the better of Viper and Mission Control. This is quite competitive and Clear Reef is not a confident choice, but he has managed to get his head in front four times on the all-weather and he ran Wicked Daze close last time at Wolverhampton before being subsequently awarded the race. He looks the percentage call in a race where a number can be given a chance. Viper was outclassed in the Cesarewitch last month but this is a much more realistic target and on his previous form he would have a big chance. Mission Control returns to the level after a spell over hurdles but he is capable performer on the flat and he boasts an admirable strike-rate of four wins from nine on the all-weather. Moonbeam Dancer won well at Lingfield and she was hampered last time at Wolverhampton, so she may be capable of bouncing back and making the frame here. A fascinating race in which Clear Reef is awarded our pick.
