In depth

Verdict

Emanic looks the one to be on in the final race no the card, with Power Unit, McBain and Island Sound all earmarked to go well. The selection reverts to hurdling, where he has previously shown ability, after a decent effort over fences in defeat last time. If he can run up to that form or better it here then he has serious chance at these weights. He travels and jumps well and handles a bit of cut, so with things in his favour he can score. Island Sound has to give him 3lb, but he is dropping in the weights he has a fair bit more experience. Nevertheless he needs to show us more than he did last time if he is to score. McBain was the easy winner of a Taunton maiden hurdle last month, but disappointed last time in Listed company. This is nowhere near as strong a race, so we anticipate him being much more closely involved again, while Power Unit would have a much better chance if the ground dried out, though has a bit to prove judged on his last two starts. But Emanic comes here with a bit of confidence and can provide us with the answer.
