    Verdict

Refractor and Golden Waters have struggled off higher marks since last year's victories and both have something to prove now but Archelao and Shirataki may do better back on Polytrack after disappointing on the turf recently. Librettela showed progressive form last season with three wins to his credit though he has an 8lb rise to cope with on his reappearance so a chance is taken on LAUGHING JACK. Tony Carroll's maiden winner is 9lb lower than his original handicap mark and, after a decent third over too short a trip at Wolverhampton last month, he gets the nod. Danehill Dante and Isdaal are others to consider.
