In depth
Verdict
Another very competitive affair that may fall to Crossbow Creek, with Hawadeth and McBain just two others that catch the eye. Crossbow Creek was the impressive winner of the Lanzarote handicap here last time and a follow up looks on the cards. He had shown enough on his previous outing at Wetherby to warrant plenty of respect in that valuable event, but was allowed to go off at 16/1. He came there strongly to lead going to two out and kept on well to comfortably beat Torrid Kentavr and in this lesser company holds very strong claims. Hawadeth returned to winning ways in a similar race at Doncaster last time. He came there full of running in the straight and never looked like being reeled-in from the second last, a repeat of that effort should see him go very close here. McBain hails from the in form Phillip Hobbs yard and comes into the argument as he is seven pounds better off with the selection after being beaten less that four lengths. However Crossbow Creek won with a bit spare in that contest and is expected to confirm that form and land first prize
