In depth

Verdict

Doctor Duffy, three times a winning hurdler, has been a short-priced beaten favourite in his last two runs over fences but his close second to Macgiloney over this trip at Roscommon puts him right in the picture. Winning hurdler AFOREMENTIONED has joined Gordon Elliott and made a very promising start for the stable when narrowly beaten by Jerandme over 2m4f here last month. He made a couple of mistakes at crucial stages in a Grade 3 at Galway last week but wasn't beaten far and that should be good enough for this. Sweet Home Chicago is in the veteran stage and makes his chasing debut though he's in good form having scored at Roscommon in June. Winning bumper and pointer Scully's Dream may prove best of the remainder though the four-year-old Bajan Excell, a dual hurdles winner, had a run on the Flat at Galway last week.
