In depth

Verdict

Rattan is bred for the Flat but did well enough over hurdles and is likely to make a chaser under the guidance of the champion trainer. Mackeys Forge should have won over fences by now and definitely has the form for this though he's now had 14 starts over the bigger obstacles without winning. It's a long time since Ongenstown Lad was winning a Cheltenham novices' hurdle by 17l but he will have been well schooled over fences and is unlikely to want for fitness so has to be kept on the right side. Jim Will Fix It hasn't been at his best for a while but TORN ASUNDER has been going well over hurdles and, as he's always looked more likely to make a chaser, he's given the vote to make a winning debut over fences. Tom Horn as plenty of potential and is worth keeping an eye on.
