In depth

Verdict

GENTLE NOEL had shown signs that a big run was imminent when fifth at Thurles on soft ground in February and made rapid progress to finish runner-up to Lend A Hand Son at Listowel earlier this month. He's obviously on the upgrade and can go one better at the chief expense of Casco Bay, who has had numerous chances to get off the mark and actually finished first past the post in this a year ago but was later disqualified on a technicality. Broadhaven Bay improved when tackling firm ground for the first time at Tramore and Mary O'Connor's mare will have conditions in her favour while dual winning bumper Moi Desire is one to keep an eye on though she was well beaten on her only start over timber.
